Intec Signs contract with Medallion Communications in Nigeria for Interconnect Billing |
11 August, London:
Intec Telecom Systems, the leading
OSS software
vendor for fixed, mobile and next-generation networks, today announced
it has signed a contract with Medallion Communications, a newly launched
interconnect clearing house for all telecommunications service providers
in Nigeria. Medallion Communications offers to the Nigerian telecom
operators a combined interconnect transiting switch and interconnect
settlement scheme under one platform. This is the first time this class
of service is being licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)
to solve the interconnect challenges facing the Nigerian telecom
industry. Under the terms of the agreement, which strengthens Intec's
position as the dominant player in Nigeria's niche telecoms billing
market, Medallion Communications will install Intec's InterconnecT and
Inter-mediatE solutions to support its fast-growing inter-carrier
settlement operations. Medallion Communications is a leading telecoms player that handles the inter-carrier billing systems between different organizations, ensuring improved call completion rates, prompt bill settlement and increased revenue for operators. With its innovative, best of breed technology Intec's software will provide the company with the capability to future-proof its existing and potential service offerings. This level of flexibility is vital to remaining a competitive force in Nigeria's fast-growing, billion-dollar telecommunications industry. "Our continued success in Nigerias telecoms market is indisputable proof that we are the market leaders in the highly competitive OSS/BSS space, said Dave Baker, Head of Intecs Operations in Africa. The combined strengths of Intecs InterconnecT and Inter-mediatE software will play a crucial role in supporting Medallion Communications operations as it enters a growing, deregulated telecoms market. By installing our solutions, the interconnect clearing house company will acquire the necessary tools to effectively bill interconnect partners for using its network as well as to compare and settle its own traffic invoices with incoming bills. The revenue maximized through this inter-carrier billing activity, which is usually the first or second source of income for fixed and mobile operators, will provide Medallion Communications with the additional income it requires to support new services at competitive prices and to thereby remain a significant player in Nigeria's telecoms market." Intec's InterconnecT solution is the global leader for inter-carrier billing and the software of choice for all of Nigeria's fixed line and mobile operators. It offers a scalable and highly advanced open platform that can be easily configured to meet Medallion Communications billing requirements. Intec's Inter-mediatE software supports the InterconnecT solution by offering a powerful real-time mediation system that can gather fixed, wireless and next-generation network data for use in producing accurate billing statements. Inter-mediatE is currently deployed in more than 130 networks worldwide, including those belonging to major African telecoms companies such as Sotelma Mali, Safaricom Kenya and Telecom Egypt. "We are delighted to add Medallion Communications to our growing list of influential customers in Africa, said Intec CEO Kevin Adams. Intec's InterconnecT and Inter-mediatE solutions will enable Medallion to cost-effectively manage billing processes for all its fixed line, wireless and next generation inter-carrier partners."
