Aepona, a leading provider of Service Network products and solutions, has been selected by TELUS, a leading Canadian telecommunications company, as the prime supplier for its Service Delivery Framework (SDF) project. The TELUS SDF is a major initiative by the company to expose the capabilities of its network, via Web Services, to third party application developers and enterprise customers in a secure, controlled and simple manner.
Through this pioneering initiative, TELUS is bringing Enterprise/IT software concepts such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) into the telecommunications domain, and is embracing the highly successful Internet service development model in order to drive forward service innovation, giving third party application developers simpler access to its network resources. The SDF will allow TELUS to fully exploit its network assets, successfully defend its position against existing and new competitors, and further extend its market leadership. Because the SDF traverses both wireless and wireline domains, it is also a key enabler for TELUS’ Fixed-Mobile Convergence strategy.
As the prime supplier to the TELUS SDF, Aepona is providing its Universal Service Platform, incorporating a highly-functional, next-generation Telecom Web Services gateway, as well as network integration services. The Aepona Universal Service Platform connects TELUS’ network resources to third-party content and application providers in a secure and highly scalable manner, and enables the automation of processes such as partner and policy management.
“The SDF project will ultimately help enable TELUS to bring the most exciting, relevant and intelligent new content and services to its clients by delivering a simpler and more efficient system with which our content and application partners would work,†said Zouheir Mansourati, TELUS vice-president of Development, Technology Strategy. “Aepona was chosen as the primary supplier to our SDF project because of their thought leadership in the area of Telecom Web Services, proven product performance with other Tier 1 operators, and their flexibility and agility as a supplier.â€
