Allround experienced that several GSM operators lose revenue because of a technical problem: a serious amount of erroneous files sent back from roaming partners (Returned Account Procedure). Usually, inadequate RAP handling results in this revenue shortfall. Why? RAP handling is normally ignored thanks to its ad-hoc and time consuming characteristics. Since the lost roaming revenue can be significant it worth thoroughly checking up on this issue.
Handling RAP files – diagnostic, error correction and resending – is a case-by-case task, lacks of tools and requires special skills. For this reason in most of the cases these files are ignored and the revenue is lost.
The above indicated problems caused us to launch a new service, called RAP Analysis, to help operators to have a clear picture of the revenue loss because of RAP and to identify the most critical problems.
Operators now can maximize their roaming revenues benefiting from Allround’s professional services, which will give them a clear picture of how much revenue is lost because of RAP files, as well as detailed reports about most common problems and detailed reports from roaming partners. In addition, there are proposals for ways to solve the most critical problems.
“Based on our experience 80% of revenue lost can be recovered by solving a few typical problem that is why we strongly recommend to GSM operators to to benefit from this remote service and retrieve a significant portion of their loss with minimal expenditures,” said János Csorba, Head of Project Portfolio Management at Allround.
