Blyk, the free, pan-European mobile operator for young people, will use MetraNet, MetraTech’s billing, customer self-care and partner management platform, to implement its innovative business model.
Blyk recently announced that it has entered into a partnership with TietoEnator, in which TietoEnator will provide Blyk with an end-to-end BSS (Business Support Systems) solution based on the MetraNet platform. By establishing a flexible, scalable, cost-efficient IT infrastructure partnership, Blyk is able to fulfil its vision of providing its customers with free communications, funded by mobile advertising.
Kari Penttilä, chief technology officer at Blyk, said: “The right BSS solutions and services strengthen our capability to manage IT operations. This will help us focus on our business challenge and provide a platform that can deliver a reliable and innovative service to our customers. The cost efficiency and comprehensive service package, fast time to market and the flexible IT solution convinced us that TietoEnator and MetraTech are the right partners for us”.
Scott Swartz, chief executive officer of MetraTech, said: “Service Providers with innovative business models are recognizing that they have limited choices in a billing market where the majority of solutions rely on increasingly outdated business logic. Blyk’s decision to deploy MetraNet underlines the demand for a platform that can dynamically account for new business models. Here, MetraNet is unique in its ability to support cutting-edge services rapidly, cost effectively and robustly. We are proud to become a key technology partner to Blyk, which is working on the leading edge of advertising-funded mobile communication services”.
