New module tightly integrated to Clarity’s Unified OSS platform
Clarity announced the commercial launch of a workforce management module that is tightly integrated to its Unified OSS solution: Clarity Field Service Manager (CFSM). It is the industry’s first COTS-based workforce management product to be tightly integrated to a common inventory, fulfilment, and assurance suite within a singular database model. The CFSM offers new levels of out-of-the-box business process automation in both the fulfillment and assurance domains and will be a unique offering to Tier 1 fixed line and wireless operators globally. In addition to having already received substantial interest in this product, Clarity has already signed contracts to deliver the solution to several Tier 1 customers.
The CFSM improves efficiency of operator field staff by enabling the optimal allocation of resources via the use of key parameters such as location, availability, skill set, equipment, capacity, and availability of service. The solution enables field service staff to gain real-time views of inventory and assurance data, and allows real-time updates by field staff using PDAs and laptop computers. Clarity believes that with the addition of the Field Service Manager, the Unified OSS solution now enables unparalleled levels of process automation and will have a substantial impact on the quality of services delivered by Telecom operators.
In a recent report launched at TMF Management World Nice in May 2008, Yankee Group examined the benefits of integrated OSS functionality. The report, a commissioned work conducted by Yankee Group on behalf of Clarity, entitled “Unified OSS Architecture is the Critical Underpinning for Automating the Telecom Service Delivery Factory”, investigates how carriers can provide agility and responsiveness while remaining competitive. Ari Banerjee, Senior Analyst at Yankee Group and author of the report, commented, “Only automated zero-touch OSS solutions will help lower network and operations cost. Streamlined OSS strategies are a necessity in the current highly competitive and complex telecom environment, where a unified OSS solution such as Clarity’s can act as a competitive differentiator. Clarity’s launch of Field Service Manager further supports this future direction of OSS.”
“With telco operators focusing on service quality as a key differentiator, Clarity’s unified OSS solution allows carriers to streamline their services and lower the costs associated with fragmented architectures, which also hinder flexibility and increase time to market for service providers,” said Tony Kalcina, Executive Director and Head of Product Management, Clarity. “Clarity intends to help carriers to innovate and achieve operational excellence via our standards compliant pre-integration capability.”
