Clarity International Pty Ltd, a leading supplier of next generation Operational Support Systems (OSS), has signed a multi-million dollar license deal with Telekom Malaysia Berhad for Clarity’s convergent inventory system.
Telekom Malaysia (TM) is Malaysia’s Tier 1 telecommunications operator providing voice, data and multimedia services to more than 12 million subscribers. TM leads the Malaysia market with 95% of the fixed line market, 56% of the internet market and 40% of the mobile market.
Clarity will consolidate and replace over 30 legacy inventory systems, providing TM with a single system to manage both current and planned inventory. “In the one system, Clarity will support our existing network technologies and our progressive migration to a Next Generation Network. We have over 31 million kilometres of network including 8.7 million exchange lines that Clarity will track and help us utilise more efficiently. We are rolling out next generation network infrastructure including Digital Local Switches, Broadband Wireless and IP MPLS. Clarity will provide organisation-wide visibility of the end to end network enabling us quickly and accurately deploy innovative services to customers†said Dato’ Baharum Salleh, Chief Operating Officer, TM Wholesale.
Clarity will drive continuous improvement of TM’s inventory management processes which are based on the industry standard Enhanced Telecommunications Operations Map (eTOM). “The Clarity system is unique in its ability to manage inventory business processes as well as inventory data,†said Angela Dickenson, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Marketing, Clarity. “TM’s business is operated using the eTOM framework and managed using a Balanced Scorecard approach. Clarity will be a key enabler for TM in automating, tracking and continuously improving its business processes and business performance.â€
This latest deal strengthens Clarity’s position as Asia Pacific’s market leader for pre-integrated Operational Support Systems. Clarity’s installed base includes Tier 1 operators PLDT (Philippines) and SLT (Sri Lanka), as well as competitive market entrants, such as India’s giant Reliance InfoCom. “Winning Telekom Malaysia, one of the largest telecom operators in South East Asia, through a fierce competition against other global leading OSS providers, is a significant milestone in Clarity’s growth†said Dr. Tomislav Matić, Chief Executive of Clarity.
