Comptel Corporation (OMX Helsinki: CTL1V), a leading Operational Support System (OSS) software vendor for convergent mediation, charging, provisioning and network inventory, has announced that it is extending its global operational presence to South Africa in order to meet the growing demand for its software in the region. The Comptel representation based in Cape Town, South Africa, will be headed by Mr. Erwin Blomeyer. This new representation extends Comptel’s global presence to a total of 18 countries, serving over 250 customers in over 80 countries worldwide.
The creation of this new South African presence follows recent customer announcements in the region including Telecom Namibia, Sudatel and Maroc Telecom. Mr. Mikko Saavalainen, VP Sales at Comptel commented: “The African continent is currently a very exciting market for Comptel. Deregulation, the construction of modern Next Generation Networks and a booming mobile industry are fuelling demand for top-class OSS/BSS solutions. Existing legacy OSS/BSS solutions tend to be integrated and are unable to support evolving needs. With many operators unbundling the OSS/BSS and turning to individual companies to meet requirements, it is only natural that Comptel has decided to have people based in the region both to support existing customers and help growth.”
Mr Erwin Blomeyer concluded: “I am very excited about the opportunity to establish a presence in South Africa as this is one of the important gateways into Africa. Comptel is committed to serve its existing and new customers. Support in Africa is one of the key business success factors in the region. I believe that the world class Solutions that Comptel offers will assist African Operators to grow their businesses.”
