Comptel Corporation (OMX Helsinki: CTL1V), a leading Operational Support System (OSS) software vendor for convergent mediation, charging, provisioning and network inventory, announced today that its provisioning and mediation solutions feature in a fully functional live Triple-Play environment at the Triple-Play Alliance’s labs near Munich, Germany. As one of the founding members of the Triple-Play Alliance, Comptel is the only OSS vendor involved in the Triple-Play Lab, an international centre of competence that has been set up to develop and demonstrate integrated voice, data and video applications.
With telecom service providers increasingly looking to offer a variety of triple-play applications to both residential and business customers, they require the right infrastructure to be able to deliver and charge for these new services. The Triple Play Lab in Munich is set up like a real-life triple play infrastructure, with separate demonstration areas for a number of fields of application, including an office environment, a conference area, a residential area, a hospital and a hotel. Besides a fully equipped data centre and server infrastructure, the Triple Play Lab infrastructure includes the backbone and access technologies found in a typical triple-play ready network.
At the lab, Comptel’s provisioning solution is used to provision triple-play services. With a single interface, it automates the user provisioning and service activation processes, covering the entire provisioning workflow – from service order to the start of billing – and guaranteeing that customers will get the correct Triple-Play service under all circumstances, without errors and within the agreed delivery schedules. Comptel’s convergent mediation solution is able to collect and rate usage information across all networks and services, allowing a greater flexibility in billing for Triple-Play services.
Mr Mikko Saavalainen, Vice President Sales says: “The Triple-Play Lab is a unique operational Triple Play environment. Comptel is pleased to demonstrate how its leading edge provisioning and mediation solutions are helping make triple-play a reality.”
The Triple-Play Labs will be holding a press day on October 4rd, 2006, near Munich, Germany. For more information, see www.tp-lab.de/events/wednesday4102006pressopenday or contact [email protected].
