Comptel Corporation (OMX Helsinki: CTL1V), a leading Operations Support System (OSS) software vendor for convergent mediation, charging, provisioning and network inventory, has extended its IP Address Management solution to manage numbers and identifiers associated with services offered by fixed, mobile and cable operators. By providing a central source for the management of identifiers, the new Comptel Number and Identifier Management solution reduces the time and resources needed to perform key business processes, such as the provisioning of services to customers. It also reduces the risk of errors such as assigning a phone number that is already allocated.
The new Compel Number and Identifier Management solution is designed to manage all the identifiers commonly used by service providers, including IP addresses, MSISDN (Mobile Station Integrated Services Digital Network) numbers, IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) numbers and directory, equipment numbers, and other numbers.
Mr. Jan-Olav Knutsen, NI Product Director at Comptel says: “It is not uncommon to find service providers managing all their key identifiers manually, using for example office tools like spreadsheets. With the explosive growth of identifiers associated with new devices and modern services, such an approach is neither practical nor economical.”
The new Compel Number and Identifier Management is designed to work with other Comptel solutions, such as the Comptel Provisioning and the Comptel Inventory solutions, allowing service providers to dramatically improve service fulfilment.
Jan-Olav Knutsen concludes: “The Comptel customers who have deployed our IP Management solution found that substantial efficiencies could be obtained from such solutions. Obviously, the potential benefits of centralising the management of all major identifiers with Comptel Number and Identifier Management solutions are even greater.”
Comptel will be showcasing the new Comptel Number and Identifier Management solution at 3GSM, Barcelona, Spain, 12-15 February 2007 (Hall 2-0, Stand No. D66).
