Comptel Corporation, a leading OSS software vendor for convergent mediation, charging, provisioning and network inventory, and Telenor Pakistan, announced today that they have reached a milestone in their deployment of the Comptel Incatel NIMS network inventory solution. The solution is now fully synchronized with the network, providing Telenor Pakistan with an up-to-date view of their network, as it is being deployed.
Telenor Pakistan was awarded a GSM mobile license in Pakistan in May 2004. Just a year after the official commercial launch of their mobile services in March 2005, Telenor Pakistan already has over 2 million subscribers.
The key to Telenor Pakistan’s success has been to roll-out its network and services fast and efficiently across Pakistan. To support the rollout, its on-going business processes and reporting needs, Telenor Pakistan is using Comptel Incatel NIMS to keep track of their network assets and configuration as they are being deployed.
Kjell Nordbo, Chief Technology Officer at Telenor Pakistan says: “Data quality is paramount for Telenor Pakistan. The network inventory needsto offer an accurate reflection of the actual network, as many of our processes and reporting rely on this. Comptel Incatel NIMS is synchronized automatically with the network as it is being rolledout. As a result, when new equipment is added or configurations changed, these are reflected in the Comptel Incatel NIMS network inventory.”
Olivier Suard, Marketing of Network Inventory Business within Comptel Corporation’s Network Inventory division, adds: “This is an important milestone for the project. Maintaining network inventory accuracy is always a challenge, and it is becoming ever more important as mobile operators need to track assets for operational, financial and other business reasons. With so many processes, such as network planning, provisioning and assurance relying on the network inventory accuracyis paramount.”
