The United States General Services Administration (GSA) has announced contract awards to three Northern Virginia companies to streamline the government’s purchase and management of wireless devices and services and lower the cost to agencies and taxpayers.
GSA awarded the first Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI) Telecommunications Expense Management (TEM) contracts to three Northern Virginia companies, iSYS LLC and Booz Allen Hamilton of McLean, and Avalon Technologies of Arlington. Contract terms are two years, with three one-year options. Estimated value of the contracts, awarded Monday, Jan. 14, is $93 million.
“As the federal government’s chief procurement agency, GSA was very excited to work with federal agencies to develop and award the first strategic sourcing contracts for federal wireless management services,” said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. “These contracts typify our commitment to provide optimal government solutions to our partner agencies at best value for the American taxpayer.”
GSA and the Department of the Treasury co-chair the governmentwide FSSI, created by the Office of Management and Budget in 2005. More than 50 military and civilian agencies participate in FSSI. The TEM services contracts follow the FSSI procurement vehicles established for office supplies and domestic delivery services.
“Cross-government collaboration was instrumental in our collective success to award these contracts,” said Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner James A. Williams. “This demonstrates that we can efficiently aggregate requirements, streamline processes and leverage the government’s buying power. GSA is pleased to provide the acquisition and technical leadership that is clearly benefiting the entire government. GSA’s procurement process and resulting sourcing initiatives are bringing industry best practices to government, providing taxpayers with the best value for their money.”
Founded in 1949, GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the federal government. GSA manages more than one-fourth of the government’s total procurement dollars and influences the management of $500 billion in federal assets, including 8,600 government-owned or leased buildings and 205,000 vehicles. GSA helps preserve our past and define our future, as a steward of more than 425 historic properties, and as manager of USA.gov, the official portal to federal government information and services. GSA’s mission to provide superior workplaces, expert technology solutions, acquisition services, purchasing and eGov travel solutions and management policies, at best value, allows federal agencies to focus on their core missions.
