Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVOL), a leading provider of strategic solutions to telecom operators worldwide, recently announced that one of the leading mobile operators in India, and a member of a large global telecom group, has selected the Company’s Dynamic SIM Allocation™ (DSA) solution.
Evolving Systems’ DSA solution is ideally suited to addressing the logistical challenges faced by Indian mobile operators. The structure of the India mobile telecom market, which is based on 23 geographic ‘circles,’ currently requires operators to forecast demand for different SIM types in each circle. An operator implementing DSA will be able to use a single, generic SIM card in all circles, provisioned with circle-specific attributes at the point of first use. This greatly simplifies the SIM supply chain by allowing the SIM stock to be easily moved between circles based on demand and market conditions.
DSA will also increase customer choice, enabling each customer to choose a number from a much wider range of numbers stored in the DSA database instead of the choice being restricted by the physical SIM stock held at a specific retailer. The process of choosing a number can be performed by the customer on their handset, or by the retailer using a DSA application on their device with the generic SIM then provisioned with the number selected.
This specific order is the Company’s second order under a recently announced group pricing arrangement.
“We’re pleased to announce our first DSA win in India, a key market for Evolving Systems,” commented Thad Dupper, Chairman and CEO. “Our DSA solution will enable this carrier to greatly reduce the overhead associated with ordering, managing and activating their SIM inventory as well as allow the carrier to respond to market dynamics without having to change out their SIM cards already in the retail channel – a tremendous competitive advantage. Due to the size of this carrier, we will have the opportunity to bring DSA’s unique capabilities to a subscriber base well in excess of 175 million subscribers, representing yet another milestone for DSA.”
