Intec, a global leader of business and operations support systems (BSS/OSS) for fixed, wireless and next generation networks, has a new contract deal with existing customer Exatel, one of the biggest providers of communications services in Poland. Under the terms of the agreement Exatel will upgrade to the latest versions of Intec’s market leading Mediation and Interconnect billing solutions.
Combined, these technologies will help support the Company’s plans to expand its residential and business customer base by offering Exatel an advanced settlement platform for managing various intercarrier agreements with Polish and foreign operators and billing them accurately and cost-effectively for using Exatel’s network to support incoming and outgoing calls.
Exatel will upgrade to Interconnect 7.1, the newest version of Intec’s award winning intercarrier billing software. The system will enable Exatel to automatically produce operator statements for outgoing calls to interconnect partners and to reconcile invoices for incoming calls, giving Exatel full visibility of costs, revenues and margins across all lines of business. Interconnect 7.1 will be supported by the latest version of Intec Mediation, a powerful fully convergent, multi-service technology that will provide improved reporting, analysis and warehousing tools to help Exatel collect and process usage information from all types of networks for billing from its expansive network.
“This agreement is a significant step forward in Exatel’s plan to expand into Poland’s mainstream market and to increase our presence in the consumer sector, while capitalising on our strong position as a service provider in the business market by targeting smaller businesses,”explains Pawel Olech, Vice President of Exatel.
“Intec’s Interconnect and Mediation solutions will help us to establish solid interconnect agreements with our telecommunications service partners and to enable us to bill for all services supported across our vast network. Furthermore, Intec’s Polish office will help ensure that Exatel benefit from a local customer service and support team. We are confident that the project will be completed smoothly and efficiently and that we will experience excellent business results the moment that Intec’s technology is running across our network.â€
Intec’s new contract win with Exatel is an extension of a well established relationship between the two companies, who have worked together over several years to customise, install and maintain Intec Mediation and Intec Interconnect software across Exatel’s network. The success that Exatel has achieved with Intec’s solutions in the past has prompted the operator to turn to the software provider once again to address its developing billing challenges. This deal is the second major software agreement that Intec has signed in Poland in the last year and confirms the company’s position as the number one supplier of telecoms billing software in the country. At present all of the major fixed and mobile providers including PTC ERA, TP/Orange Polska and Polkomtel S.A are using Intec’s systems to maximise revenue and to lower operational costs.
Intec’s Interconnect 7.1 platform will enable Exatel to gain new residential and business customers by launching innovative telephony services at competitive prices. The enhanced solution will support this initiative by offering the operator with greater billing performance, scalability and interoperability. Interconnect 7.1’s key features include simple to complex rating, revenue-sharing and multi-party settlement capabilities for any type of service, as well as support for automated verification and reconciliation of billing and traffic data from partners. Comprehensive discounting and volume-based rating features are also included to offer incentives to Exatel partners, thereby helping to attract profitable traffic.
Intec Mediation will act as the critical link between Exatel’s network and Interconnect 7.1, offering true carrier-grade performance with low hardware requirements when performing the critical tasks of real-time processing and distribution of usage data for revenue settlement. Intec Mediation’s component-based architecture will adapt quickly to Exatel’s business needs, thereby delivering the highest quality of information to its downstream systems.
“A major factor in the commercial success of Poland’s telecoms sector is the ability for operators to gain the flexibility to support new rating and tariff schemes without stifling innovation as new services come to market,”said Iwona Golinska, Business Development Director for Central/Eastern Europe.
“By investing in Interconnect 7.1 and Intec Mediation, Exatel will gain the most advanced wholesale billing and Mediation solutions in the world, providing the operator with the opportunity to introduce new services and tariffs without compromising billing accuracy.”
