Intec, a global provider of business and operations support systems (BSS/OSS), has signed a multi-million dollar deal with a US-based tier one provider to service the carrier access billing (CABS) requirements of the carrier’s wireline business. This top five, local exchange carrier will join a substantial list of tier-one customers handled by the Intec Managed Services division from its SAS 70 compliant facilities*. The three-year agreement includes the processing of 30 billion Call Detail Records (CDRs) per year for billing of the carrier’s access revenues.
Intec offers its software in flexible business models to customers. While the carrier opted to outsource its CABS processing to Intec’s Managed Services division, it will still have access to the system data and database for any required maintenance and reporting. The Intec Managed Services division provides turnkey outsourcing that supports carrier operations with experienced personnel and world-class facilities.
Intec will use its Interconnect CABS billing software along with Interconnect Prep, which will pre-process and format the usage records for billing. The carrier selected Intec after a thorough competitive evaluation, citing Intec’s depth of billing functionality as one of the key factors for its selection. The error management capabilities, the Account Receivable functionality provided by the subsidiary ledger, and more than 80 standard reports as well as ad hoc reporting, were all noted as critical components for this carrier.
Jim Meginley, who heads Intec Managed Services, said, “We are very pleased to have earned this new business, which recognizes the superiority of our product and the exceptional service provided by our staff in the Intec Managed Services division. The revenue generated from access can have a substantial impact on a carrier’s bottom line if fully and accurately billed, and the Intec offering maximizes that potential revenue.”
More than 70 carriers and MSOs rely on Intec Managed Services for their outsourced CABS processing. Available in both a licensed and outsourced model, Intec CABS is used by more than 110 service providers across North America. Due to increasing interest by service providers of all sizes and types, Intec has expanded its managed services offering over the last year to include billing and business process outsourcing as well as turnkey facilities management.
*SAS 70 is an acronym for Statement on Auditing Standard 70, which is developed and maintained by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. SAS 70 is a “Report on the Processing of Transactions by Service Organizations” where professional standards are set up for a service auditor that audits and assesses internal controls of a service organization. SAS 70 has grown increasingly popular following the implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which adds importance in implementing SAS 70 as a resource to show the effectiveness of a service organization’s internal controls and data security safeguards.
