Interactive Enterprise Limited (IE) announced today that it has partnered with Wave7 Optics Inc., a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home or -premises (FTTH/FTTP) equipment for residential and business services, to deliver an automated, end-to-end management and provisioning system for all operators of FTTH/FTTP networks.
Under the partnership, the companies will provide FTTP service providers with an integrated solution where IE’s automated provisioning and management system, Conexon™, will interoperate with Wave7 Optics’ Last Mile Link TM (LML) FTTP platform. This integrated solution will enable service providers to rapidly provision and manage “triple-play†broadband services including high-speed data, voice and video over FTTP networks in conjunction with the service provider’s existing OSS and BSS platforms.
With greater competition in the broadband market, many service providers are looking to add new subscribers to their network using FTTP technology. In doing so, they need to deploy both individual and bundled broadband services as quickly and as efficiently as possible. IE and Wave7 Optics’ integrated FTTP solution will help their customers meet this challenge by automating the complete activation and management of services from order-entry through to individual access devices. This in turn will enable them to maximize revenue generation and manage the total end-to-end broadband experience for their subscribers.
“FTTP is the premier broadband access solution today, especially for the delivery of “triple-playâ€, but operators face challenges in integrating it into their existing systems for the provisioning and activation of new customers, handling customer changes and keeping track of service orders in a highly-interactive environment,†said Emmanuel Vella, Chief Marketing Officer for Wave7 Optics “Wave7 is demonstrating by this partnership that we are taking a leading position in the industry with regards to OSS and BSS interoperability.â€
Paul McBride, CEO, Interactive Enterprise said, â€We are delighted to be partnering with Wave7 Optics in delivering this advanced end-to-end FTTP provisioning solution. With Conexon’s feature-rich service provisioning and management capabilities coupled with Wave7’s powerful Last Mile Link solution, we are confident that our operator customers can reap significant cost savings and efficiencies in an increasingly competitive broadband market.â€
The LML is an Ethernet-based FTTP access platform that is deployed by more than 70 service providers on five continents. The LML offers network operators the ability to deploy a single, flexible IP-based optical Ethernet network for voice, data and video (CATV broadcast or IP) over a single fiber. The LML delivers unparalleled symmetrical bandwidth — up to 500 Mbps, either dedicated or on-demand — with industry-leading QoS management and data security.
Conexon enables operators to provision, activate and manage the delivery of multiple services including data, voice, video and wireless. Designed on an open architecture, Conexon encompasses a high-performance provisioning engine and a set of industry standard interfaces that can be combined to create a comprehensive solution that meets the individual business and technical needs of each broadband operator. With support for leading industry broadband standards and technologies, Conexon allows for the rapid activation of services across the operator’s customer base helping to maximize revenue and market share.
Conexon not only enables broadband operators to rapidly provision services but also offers a suite of add-on management modules that helps operators effectively manage how subscribers use these services. Conexon’s integrated modules primarily focus on managing the customer experience so that operators can maximize revenue generation and customer loyalty.
Wave7 Optics is exhibiting the LML and its Trident7â„¢ Optical Access Platform at the FTTH Council Conference in Las Vegas, October 2 — 5, at The Venetian Resort (booth 121). In addition, Wave7 Optics CTO, Jim Farmer, is participating in the panel discussion and presentation, “FTTH Success Stories – Municipal Networks,†on October 3rd, 11 am – 12 pm and is giving a paper, “Optical Considerations in FTTH Networks,†on October 4th, 10:30 – 11:00 am. Stephen Thomas, Chief Architect for Wave7 Optics, will present his paper, “OAM&P in Passive Optical Networks,†on October 4th, 1:45 – 2:15 pm.
