Kabira Technologies, a leader in extreme transaction processing software for global enterprises, today announced the release of the 3.4 version of its widely deployed Kabira Provisioning and Service Activation? product (KPSA). The new version is designed to enable faster service provisioning, easier monitoring and greater flexibility by simplifying how complex product offerings and services are handled. With the new 3.4 release, Kabira demonstrates its responsiveness to the need for service providers to both better integrate with their legacy systems and to provide greater support for new developments in customer self- and auto-provisioning.
The new enhancements build upon well-established KPSA advantages in general service activation and in the provisioning of wire line, wireless and multi-play packages – including those comprised of high speed data, VoIP, TV and wireless content offerings. KPSA is deployed on 2G to 3G+ and broadband networks (DSL, optical fiber, and WiFi) worldwide, and is currently in development phase for IMS and WiMAX.
Stephane Beauvais, KPSA product manager at Kabira comments, “Naturally, as a leader in extreme transaction processing solutions, we’ve been at the forefront of helping Tier One telecom and, broadband service providers, as well as emerging service providers attain their extremely demanding service delivery goals.” Beauvais continued, “As new services become increasingly more complex, today’s intensely competitive marketplaces require ever more rapid and exacting new service provisioning and activation. With its 3.4 release, Kabira’s service fulfilment offering demonstrates our ability and commitment to drive service delivery innovation to the next level.”
Changes in how KPSA communicates asynchronously with legacy network elements, provisioning systems and enterprise middleware enables service providers to more swiftly introduce new services for a larger number of end users. At the same time, Kabira has improved KPSA responsiveness for synchronous service provisioning. Increases in system throughput and reduction in processing latency contribute to accelerating internal handling of synchronous processing requests associated with self-provisioning applications. Today KPSA has been shown to be able to provision up to 210 service orders per second on Linux-based, 2 x 2Ghz dual core Opteron systems with a latency of under 200 milliseconds.
With this release, KPSA now includes a fully integrated alarm forwarding capability for SNMP network managers. Alarms can be predefined within KPSA and are logged into a dedicated file. These changes make it easier for service providers’ operational staff to see, identify and resolve provisioning issues. Additionally, this release improves how the KPSA service catalogue helps service providers provision and activate complex service offerings—enabling higher-quality service design, maintenance and re-usability across various technologies. New service catalogue capabilities include extended mapping between customer and resource facing service orders and scripting enhancements for a clean delineation between market level service offerings and network level service renderings.
The new 3.4 version of KPSA is available on Solaris 10.x, Linux x86 and Redhat 5. For more information about KPSA, please visit www.kabira.com.
