Nakina Systems has joined Juniper Networks J-Partner Program as an OSS and Network Management Service Provider Solutions Alliances partner. The roll out of new services over converged Carrier Ethernet and IP/MPLS-based networks is driving service providers to adopt a single Network Operating System (NOS) capable of managing multiple technologies from many different equipment vendors. Nakina is delivering on that vision. Nakina’s Network OS™ management solution will provide Juniper’s service provider customers worldwide with a carrier-grade, multi-vendor, multi-technology network management solution.
Nakina was selected by Juniper because of its proven customer traction and its best-in-class multi-technology functionality and business and technical leadership. Juniper’s J-Partner Network Management Alliance Program is designed to encourage the development of applications that deliver robust, flexible and interoperable network management solutions to enable rapid service deployment and operational efficiencies that lower the cost of service provider operations.
“We share a common vision with Nakina to provide our customers with high-performance network equipment and management solutions,” said Doug Erickson, director of worldwide alliance and channel development at Juniper Networks. “Our service provider customers are looking to accelerate the expansion of next-generation, Carrier Ethernet and multiplay services. With Nakina’s management solution, they can rapidly deploy and manage the increasing complexity of their multi-technology networks while facilitating rapid integration of Juniper network elements into their existing back office systems.”
Nakina’s software helps service providers expedite new services roll outs while improving the efficiency and cost structure of their operations. As a single point of integration, the Nakina Network OS™ platform reduces the ‘OSS Integration Tax’ by rationalizing the number of management systems required. Scaling to manage tens of thousands of network elements, Nakina’s flexible network and element management solution supports full Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security (FCAPS) functionality across legacy and next-generation networks.
“Telecom operators face the challenges of integrating heterogeneous OSS applications and systems with equipment across many different technologies,” says Peter Mottishaw, senior analyst for OSS Observer. “A common, standards-based platform that provides a single point of integration northbound into higher level back office systems and southbound into the network elements holds the potential to significantly reduce OSS integration, maintenance and staff training costs for service providers.”
“Leading OSS software vendors and equipment vendors like Juniper are joining the growing Nakina ‘Network OS-ready’ ecosystem of suppliers,” said Mary O’Neill, vice president of market development at Nakina Systems. “They benefit from a common set of accurate network information and management functionality that can be easily extended to support their unique features that differentiate their products from competitors. By leveraging new-generation OSS concepts with open industry standards and interfaces such as MTOSI, XML and NETCONF, Nakina’s support for Juniper solutions accelerates the deployment of new services and simplifies the management of network infrastructure versus legacy routing and switching solutions. As the industry’s only truly vendor-independent, off-the-shelf management platform, our product has been proven in live deployments with some of the world’s largest service providers, giving us at least a three year lead-time over competitive solutions.”
The Nakina Network OS™ product managing Juniper Networks’ products is available today and will be showcased managing Juniper’s MX-series Ethernet Services Routers in live demonstrations on Nakina’s booth 208 at this year’s TM Forum Management World Americas show in Dallas, Texas, November 4-8, 2007.
