Amdocs (NYSE:DOX), a leading provider of customer experience systems, has been recognized as the leader in business support systems (BSS) and operations support systems (OSS) in the telecommunications industry, as noted in the April 2007 industry analysis report entitled, OSS Observer Telecom Software Supplier Market Share. OSS Observer states in the report that Amdocs retains its leadership position thanks in part to its growing product portfolio and a strong business momentum. Factors noted are the capability to win many of the large transformation deals in North America as well as globally, and the combination of innovative software and services.
“The leader board of suppliers to the telecommunications software market has changed dramatically due to a host of mergers and acquisitions since we last published our detailed market share report in February 2006,” said Larry Goldman, co-founder and senior analyst at OSS Observer. “Despite this, Amdocs has maintained the lead in our rankings on the strength and breadth of their portfolio, tier 1 customers and strategic acquisitions.”
With Amdocs retaining its leadership position for the second consecutive year, OSS Observer reports it does more than twice as much business in the telecommunications market as the runner-up Oracle. The OSS Observer Telecom Software Supplier Market Share report measures sales generation of software suppliers to the telecommunications industry around the world. It estimates that the top 15 companies out of more than 250 evaluated generated $8.8 billion in sales to service providers in 2006.
From the detailed market share data on 22 market segments, Amdocs comes out on top in many of the categories it was ranked in:
— overall billing market share — 34 percent, with the second-ranked
vendor far behind at 10 percent
— rating and pricing market share — 42 percent, with the second-ranked
vendor at 12 percent
— partner and interconnect market share with 16 percent
— subscriber management market share with 38 percent
— inventory/network resource management market share with 20 percent

“Maintaining leadership position as noted by OSS Observer is strong validation of Amdocs’ ability to continually deliver on some of the largest transformation projects in the world,” said Michael Matthews, chief marketing officer, Amdocs. “Our business momentum demonstrates that service providers recognize the unique strengths of Amdocs, including our portfolio of integrated products that spans OSS and BSS, augmented by services and designed to help providers create an innovative, integrated and intentional customer experience.”
