OSS through JavaT Initiative (OSS/J) and Tigerstripe today announced a software licensing agreement that enables OSS/J and its members to use Tigerstripe WorkbenchT. This software engine simplifies and accelerates OSS/J’s efforts to design industry-standard Applications Programmer Interfaces (APIs) specifications.
Tigerstripe Workbench has an OSS/J plug-in that captures the standard’s best practices and design guidelines and automatically generates standards-compliant API specifications. Tigerstripe’s automation engine makes a significant contribution to the growing ecosystem of OSS/J-based products and services.
“This much-needed tool reduces the engineering resources required to code APIs, improves the consistency of APIs between projects and releases, and speeds our ability to complete the OSS/J API Roadmap,” says Antonio Plutino, Project Manager for OSS/J’s API projects. “Tigerstripe Workbench provides multiple benefits for IT architects and system engineers who employ OSS/J technology to deliver end-to-end solutions.”
Eric Dillon, Tigerstripe’s CTO says, “We’ve worked closely with OSS/J to better understand how they want to automate their API design processes. We’re pleased to be so well accepted by the OSS/J expert teams, who are technical thought leaders from some of the world’s most successful telecommunications companies. A key benefit of Tigerstripe Workbench that is universally praised by these expert teams is the ability to design an API once, and then to automatically generate its specification for web services, XML and/or Java technologies. Tigerstripe Workbench allows system engineers to perform their analysis at a higher level, so they don’t have to waste time on complex programming details.” Visit OSS/J (mezzanine booth next to the Exhibit Hall entrance) and Tigerstripe (booth #16) at TeleManagement World Nice, May 15 – 18, 2006, in Nice, France.

About the OSS through JavaT Initiative
Building on the success of Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EET), XML, and Web Services technologies in enterprise applications and e-commerce, the OSS through Java Initiative is chartered to develop functional APIs that accelerate the development of innovative OSS/BSS solutions where all applications function together. The Initiative’s APIs are standardized under the latest Java Community ProcessSM (JCP) program. The deliverables for each API consist of a specification, a reference implementation, and a technology compatibility kit – all of which, including source code, are made available to the industry free of charge. The Initiative’s APIs help service providers jumpstart the deployment of end-to-end services on next-generation networks and leverage the convergence of telecommunications and Internet-based solutions.
