Sicap is officially celebrating the opening of its office in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire today, with its mobile operator and service provider guests. The event confirms the strength of its partnerships in the region.
With competition fierce in the region, operators are intent on gaining and maintaining market share by offering the most attractive offers for the end user. Sicap has both the experience and the means in Africa to accompany operator strategies.
French-speaking West Africa is the birthplace of Sicap, formerly known as Swapcom, on the continent in the year 2000. Long term evolutions of Sicap software platforms and on-hand support have helped build business relations over the years.
Now also firmly established in South Africa, Sicap has matured and extended its offer to take on the new challenges faced by African operators. These include usability of data services by all customer devices, a marketing edge gained from the ability to react quickly to new trends and a fast return on investment. The business strength of Sicap emanates from its holistic approach to service delivery. Complementary software products and services help open up and monetise network assets in the local context.
Tier 1 operator groups dominate the African scene and all of them trust Sicap’s complementary software components for multimedia service management. Millions of end-user mobiles in the region are updated for service usage from Sicap platforms.
More recently, operators in the region have adopted Sicap’s collect call service which generates premium rate calls from simple USSD alerts. Sicap installations typically enable operators to break even within a year and considerably enhance their credibility as providers of attractive services.
Sicap’s move to West Africa’s business capital has been largely endorsed by members of the mobile telephony sphere, as it means that operations and support for Sicap-run services are close at hand.
Roger Adom, Deputy General Manager of Orange Cote d’Ivoire, said “Our relations with Sicap are built on trust and re-enforced by their good understanding of our marketing and technical needs”.
Sicap Africa Managing Director Yann Pognant said “We are proud to be able to celebrate the opening of our Abidjan office with business partners who share our vision. Sicap is committed to serving its West Africa customers in the best possible conditions. Together, we intend to promote mobile services in a user-shaped way.”
