Sunrise Telecom® Incorporated (Pink Sheets: SRTI.PK – News), a leader in testing and monitoring solutions for voice, video, data services and next-generation digital multimedia, today announced that it was awarded a five-year contract to provide its Traffic Analysis and Monitoring System (TAMS) to O2 Germany, one of Europe’s leading providers of mobile communications services. Sunrise Telecom was selected for its technical leadership, flexible solutions, and exceptionally high performance during its partnership with O2 over the past several years.
The TAMS, comprised of 20 probes using 3GMaster technology and multiple servers, will be deployed in 12 different towns across Germany to provide information to a central data collection server in Munich. The 3GMaster provides installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, billing and QoS analysis for GSM, GPRS/EDGE, UMTS and NGN networks.
“O2 Germany has first-hand experience with our outstanding product performance and technical support, while growing their mobile business and delivering new mobile broadband services over the past three years,” comments Franco Messori, General Manager of Sunrise Telecom’s Protocol division. “This choice reflects a high level of confidence in our ability to support our customers and in the TAMS’ capacity to ensure high quality coverage and capacity directly where operators need to serve their customers.”
The TAMS, which includes Sunrise Telecom’s MAP, INAP, CAMEL, SMS, GSM- Abis, GSM-A, UMTS Iub and UMTS Iu packages, will simultaneously correlate the information exchanged by each device involved in network transactions, including those on the internal signaling network, as well as external connections for calls made from/to subscribers of other operators. In working with the service provider, Sunrise Telecom realized that a complete snapshot of their network performance, would allow them to monitor performance and quickly and effectively troubleshoot any problems. The TAMS fully meets this critical need.
The information provided by the TAMS is especially important as O2 Germany’s innovative Multiple Card Service in Germany continues to gain momentum. The Multiple Card Service provides subscribers with several SIM cards that can be customized or used with default settings in a wide variety of mobile devices, from phones to PDAs and more. The Multiple Card Service, as well as the service provider’s standard offerings, requires the use of intelligent network protocols such as MAP, INAP, and CAMEL, resulting in a significant increase in signaling traffic and the need for reliable monitoring equipment.
Sunrise Telecom’s TAMS consists of a data collection server and a set of probes that locally interface with the links carrying the signaling and voice traffic. The system acts as a centralized, integrated network management and surveillance tool. The TAMS integrates the capabilities for network troubleshooting and service monitoring into a single platform that identifies network faults, collects traffic statistics and provides tools for problem isolation, analysis, and resolution. The TAMS continuously monitors the state of the signaling network on both the UMTS core network and the access network (GERAN and UTRAN), locates the causes of abnormal conditions through troubleshooting and evaluates the quality of the network and its proper configuration. This information is provided in the form of network usage reports that analyze the quality of services.
