TeleSciences, Inc. announced that GSM operators have the general availability of its NRTRDE solution
Mobile service providers using the GSM standard now to be enabled by the NRTRDE solution to quickly and affordably meet the October 1, 2008 deadline set by the GSM Association for implementing Near Real-Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE). With this product and the new data format, mobile operators are able to identify roaming fraud within hours instead of days or weeks.
The new NRTRDE solution, which has been built upon the industry-leading EventDynamics data collection and management platform from TeleSciences, not only transforms call detail records (CDRs) into the new format, but provides operators with a powerful suite of complementary value-added services.
“Savvy mobile operators are moving fast to comply with the new GSMA format and deadline,” said Larry Siegel, director of marketing for TeleSciences. “They know that not only will NRTRDE reduce roaming fraud, but that the sooner they’re NRTRDE-compliant the more willing fellow GSMA-member operators will be to partner with them and share roaming traffic. With our new solution,” he added, “operators can get compliant very quickly, and then benefit from the other data management functions of EventDynamics.”
More Than NRTRDE Delivery
EventDynamics not only renders call detail records in the new NRTRDE format, it also can transform CDRs into XML and CSV formats or any other downstream-required mobile record configuration and can do so in real-time.
This includes formats to be received by third-party clearinghouses. This is as an opportunity for operators to reduce expenses typically charged by clearinghouses which otherwise transform native, proprietary switch formats.
With EventDynamics, operators also gain real-time visibility into all network-related data as well as the ability to filter, aggregate, and transform data into any and all required formats – even when drawing data from multiple switch types. It’s a solution ideal for mixed or converged networks: EventDynamics is a unified, network “agnostic” engine. Unlike other event usage data management solution providers that have cobbled together disparate solutions to offer mediation for both real-time and post-paid processing, only TeleSciences offers fully integrated functions for seamless management of both types of data streams.
NRTRDE replaces HUR for Faster Fraud Detection
The GSM Association estimates that 82% of the global mobile market uses the GSM standard, with over 2 billion subscribers across 200+ countries on GSM networks. The threat of roaming fraud among the 600+ GSM networks – and its 20,000+ roaming agreements – is a constant drain on revenue and profitability. The introduction of the new NRTRDE format, and its fast sharing of usage data, significantly reduces the potential for undetected fraud. It is a solution long-awaited by mobile service providers which previously shared High Usage Reports (HUR). HUR enabled visibility into roaming usage, but only after receiving reports, on average, 36 hours later. The new Near Real-Time Roaming Data Exchange enables mutual delivery of usage within four hours and often in less than 20 minutes.
The TeleSciences NRTRDE solution enables mobile operators to quickly launch the new data exchange format and start fighting fraud with a powerful new tool well in advance of the October 1, 2008 deadline.
