Telrad Networks, a developer of carrier-grade telecommunications equipment, has recently launched a new Multi Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) expansion shelf. This MSPP is based on Telrad’s Multiservice Distributed Service Module (MSDSM) technology, a highly scalable access solution for optical networks, with applications for both the central office as well as remote locations.
By providing the capability of expanding service capacity on existing optical metro networks, operators can simply and cost-effectively increase service density using the Telrad technology. For SDH and Sonet add-drop multiplexers, the MSPP expansion shelf allows a higher density of services, including low order and Ethernet interfaces on the same network. This increases both capacity and flexibility of the SDH/Sonet MSPP while lowering the cost per port. As with other Telrad technologies, the MSDSM technology is based on a carrier-grade field-proven platform that can be customized as part of Tier 1 vendors’ portfolio.
“Operators need to provide high-capacity networks at minimum costs. By using the MSDSM expansion module, it’s possible to practically double the amount of ports on each line coming from the central office,” said Meir Bass , CTO of Telrad Networks. “We’ve found that our customers appreciate the high level of roadmap flexibility we have provided with this platform, allowing us to develop full interoperability with major vendor’s switching networks.”
The MS DSM is a carrier-grade fully-featured module that can be deployed both at the central office and the access side, to increase capacity without adding physical infrastructure.
