The Asia telecom market is expected to constitute a major part of the global WiMAX market, with almost half of the new users to be added in India which explains the critical role India plays in the Asia region. The burgeoning Indian market is expected to illustrate the power of WiMAX technology with over 27.5 million WiMAX users estimated by 2012. WiMAX has already established itself in the 3.5 GHz band with deployments in every region. WiMAX is being deployed in the 2.5 GHz in Asian countries such as the Japan, Taiwan and Russia with new 2.5 GHz WiMAX spectrum allocations expected soon. WiMAX has been deployed in the 2.3 GHz in South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore with future deployments anticipated in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.
