WorldCell, a leading provider of voice and data wireless managed services to the US Military, and Accuris Networks, an innovator in fixed-mobile convergence and inter-technology roaming solutions, have developed a next generation International Roaming HUB service based on the principles of Open Connectivity — a GSMA initiative focused on reducing cost and increasing efficiency of international GSM roaming.
The system, jointly developed by WorldCell and Accuris Networks, will provide global GSM roaming access through a single agreement, significantly reducing the cost and time involved in launching and testing commercial international roaming. In the recent Proof of Concept (POC) trial conducted by GSMA, WorldCell successfully demonstrated HUB-based roaming between GSM operators in addition to inter-operability between POC participant HUBS.
“WorldCell is excited about the GSMA Open Connectivity Initiative as it will further enhance seamless roaming, a key factor in GSM’s success as a global wireless technology,” commented S. Blake Swensrud, WorldCell’s CEO. “We are happy to contribute to the success of the Open Connectivity Proof of Concept trial hosted by GSMA and look forward making this service commercially available with our long-standing partner, Accuris Networks.”
WorldCell leverages its GSM operating license, operating platforms and global partnerships to deliver the most advanced and seamless wireless communications services available today on a global scale. The development of the International Roaming HUB further solidifies WorldCell’s place as a market leader.
Accuris Networks CEO Aidan Dillon stated, “Accuris Networks values its partnership with WorldCell and is very pleased about the successful conclusion of the Open Connectivity POC trials. This is yet another innovative, market-driven roaming solution developed by the team at Accuris Networks, and we very much look forward to making this service commercially available in partnership with WorldCell.”
