Xalted delivered Fraud Trace, a fraud management solution for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). BSNL is India’s largest public sector telecommunication company with the widest network reach amongst telecom service providers across India. Nortel implemented the project, as it is a recognized global leader in delivering communications capabilities.
Xalted’s Fraud Trace, which is a critical strategy deployment initiative for BSNL, covers BSNL’s GSM network, which includes CellOne subscribers to detect real and non-real time fraud across India. One of the Xalted fraud management implementation unique features is the deployment of high-capacity multiplexers and protocol analyzers that tap SS7 signals and generate SS7 Call Data Records for all national, international, and roaming traffic throughout BSNL switching centers across India. These records raise fraud alerts instantly.
The system collects various data feed viz. xDRs, logs, profiles from BSNL’s network elements including MSC, SMSC, MMSC, GPRS, TAP- IN, TAP-OUT and IN prepaid records, both chargeable and non-chargeable. Also collected are the data from billing systems for billed details and subscriber profiles. These data items are collected to capture different fraud types like unknown and blacklisted subscribers, illegal voucher recharge, SIM cloning, high usage and CDR tamper.
“BSNL’s aim was to prevent network abuse and other anomalies for its growing subscriber base while further validating its processes to charge accurately in various regions across India.
